You can almost be assured that your weapon served in 'The Great Patriotic War' as the Soviets referred to it, or WWII to us in the US. The shortage was so severe in WWI and WWII that many Russian soldiers and their allies went to war without any firearm at all.

It would be safe to say that no substantial number of wartime guns sat in warehouses unused. Your rifle was probably refurbed after WWII to correct wear and damage that occured in training and battle. Welcome Aboard! Treasure those pieces of history, and they may just speak to you! I find they talk best at the range.

As the others mention, no real database, and still alot of things to learn in reguards to marks and such, which is why many of us hang out here trading info, pics, etc. Sort of uncharted territory in milsurps, and I doubt that much info will be coming from the former Soviet Union.
