Even though Lucky likes Kiki, he helps her break the curse. It’s been a while since I last watched a RomCom that I enjoyed this much.
Taking into account that it’s not a movie meant to be dissected, I won’t dwell too much on the things that ticked me off. It’s a quirky movie that made me laugh from start to finish. I am amazed with Chen Bolin’s transformation, because he’s unrecognizable as Lucky.

While I did enjoy his performance, I terribly missed his dimples. Ivy Chen is so pretty, and I love how she gives depth to her character, which could have been off-putting if portrayed differently. The twist near the end is pretty great, it’s just that it could have been resolved better. The revelation and the execution of events are mind-boggling, but it makes sense! There are instances when I feel like some scenes are over-the-top, but the plot unravels in a way that explains all the nuances and exaggeration of the first part.

Lucky is arguably a psychopath who cunningly schemed to make Kiki fall for him. I question the ending, because it seems ridiculous for Kiki to still take him back.
Yes, they waited years before reuniting, but I would have preferred it if they showed us what happened in the 7-year time lapse. No doubt, Lucky Wu is a good person. But we didn’t get to know the real him, because we only saw the Lucky who has an agenda behind every move he makes. We are robbed off the chance to see the real Lucky woo back Kiki. Wondering how Lucky made Kiki fall for him can be a very long discussion on how people fall in love. She was fooled to say the least, but it’s curious of how much of his intentions were true and how much were calculated. I cannot question Kiki for taking him back.
She has seen a partial of what makes Lucky special, but from the audience’s point-of-view (from mine at least), Lucky is an obsessive stalker and manipulator, and that’s scary! Hopefully, Lucky learned his lesson and realized that a way to a woman’s heart is not through a science experiment. Despite my complaints, I still enjoyed Campus Confidential.
It’s just a pity that what could have made it better happened behind the screen. It’s a movie worth anyone’s time, especially those looking for a light and funny movie to watch. [Photo credit: ].
