Federal Ordnance M14 Serial Numbers
Federal Ordnance serial number data base ENHANCED BATTLE RIFLE-SPECIAL OPERATION PECULIAR MODIFICATIONS. M14 TECH MANUALS AND DATA REPOSITORY. Federal Ordnance had several model designations for its M14 type rifle. Given sufficient time and enough serial numbers, we may be able to discern. Low serial # 39xx ALL USGI parts (H&R everything) throat erosion less than 1. Is that still from the 'good ones' that Fed. Made?(I know late ones had issued w/ chinese/taiwanese parts). Price is less than a new springfield M1A with commercial parts.
I received a Federal Ordnance M14A today. This rifle has all USGI parts, H&R bolt, H&R oprod, H&R trigger group(complete), Winchester barrel, rear sight is H&R, gas cylinder appears to be USGI and so does the flash suppressor. I disassembled the rifle to inspect it. All parts had a good finish on them and the oprod tab was good and full. I even disassembled the rear sight assembly, it re-assembled with no problem. I had heard there were problems with Fed Ord rear sight pockets, just wanted to check!
I knew that low serial number Fed Ords were supposed to have been built with all USGI parts and I have wanted one of these for some time now, mainly so I could see for myself if the rifle is good or not. I have heard both sides on this rifle many say stay away from them, many really brag on them.
I know one of our old time very respected members here has a Fed Ord and it has served as his match rifle for many years and has fired many thousands of rounds through it! I'll post pics and a range report tomorrow!
I have heard that those with no letter following M14 were a commemorative rifle, any truth to that? I have heard the same thing. The receiver is absolutely beautifully finished. It was a gun store pick up so there was no history with it. I did add it to Different's ser # list a number of years ago. Bucks at the time, I was happy to have an M14 that worked. It did have a Chinese barrel and parts on it which I changed out almost immediately.
Those parts hung around the shop until I picked up a couple of Fulton receivers at Camp Perry a few years ago and found a home for a couple of sets of Chinese parts. Shot the Fed Ord this morning. Ammo ZQI, shot at 25 standing, 100 and 200 yards, slinged up prone. Fired only twenty rounds, but no malfunctions. Sights are well centered, 11 clicks up for a center hold hit at 200 yards. Kept all rounds easily in the 5 ring of the Army D target.
Time will tell, but I see no reason why this rifle doesn't last a very long time even with a lot of shooting. The paint job on the stock is by Sixtgunr!
Download A Gaiola Dourada Filme Completo Legendado there. The one I used to own was in the same serial number range. I remember that the rear sight pocket was a tiny bit slanted--just 'off' enough that there was more shelf showing behind one side of the sight base than the other.
That was my very first M14-type rifle. And like many former Fed Ordnance owners, I didn't appreciate what a good rifle I had. I fretted about its being a cast receiver, I fretted about that rear sight pocket, and I fretted mostly about the poor receiver heat-treating and geometry reviews the experts gave it on the internet forums that I had just started to enjoy. But that rifle was accurate, and it never gave me a bit of trouble.
Every single M14 that has passed through my hands since has had at least one issue, and all of those were forged-receiver variants with excellent reviews. The worst part about the Fed Ord I owned was that by the time the internet experts had convinced me that all Fed. Rifles were junk, everyone else had condemned them as such as well; I got very little money for it. Congratulations on your rifle! Any chance of getting a pic of the heel? Other than that, I use my own experience with these rifles. I have a few more M14's to buy to satisfy my own own curiosity about these rifles.I have owned quite a few SAI's, a few Armscorps, one Fulton Armory, five JRA's, 8 or 9 LRB's(maybe more), one Polytech, this Fed Ord and I have my eyes on an SEI. I always have a few M14's on hand, three I consider heirlooms, the rest are fair game for the market if someone wants one bad enough. Game Genie Codes For Snes9x Emulator Roms. After I shoot this Fed Ord for a while I just may sell her.maybe. - - - Updated - - - Just walked off of my range from shooting at 300 yards prone.the Fed Ord runs like a sewing machine.
Yesterday, I ordered a Sadlak oprod spring guide and a Tubbs spring kit.forgot to order a NM hooded rear sight, dang it! As far as the M14 is concerned I am no expert. What I am though.is smart enough to know when to listen to those that are experts. I have found that when I find the right person with the knowledge I need, I just shout up and listen. I know it can be tough sometimes to figure out just who the experts are and those that can be trusted to help you when you need it. I have been lucky in that regard, most sincerely want to help. This forum has given me a wealth of information, those of you know who you are and I thank you.
